Helen Louise (Riedy) Wagner passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on June 30, 2016, at the age of 91, after a brief illness at the Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
Helen was born at her home on Vine Street on December 23, 1924 to Catherine Louise (Kelley) Riedy and Raymund Riedy. She graduated from Sandusky High School and worked as a teller at Citizen’s Banking Company, where she met Richard O. Wagner. Helen and Richard were married on April 12, 1947, and raised six children together. They were happily married for 60 years until Richard's death in 2007 at the age of 94. Helen was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was often seen biking to noon mass, with grandchildren in tow, where she delivered her handmade rosaries. She also generously volunteered her time at the Veteran's Home and other local nursing homes. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all.
Helen is survived by her brother Ned (Gail) Riedy; her sons Reid (Nancy), Gary (Cynthia), Jude (Deborah), and Monte (Madeline); daughter, Tamara Murray; grandchildren, Karlie, Angie, Brett, Brian, Kristen, Danielle, Michelle, Michael O., Gabriel, Adam, Joseph, Benjamin, John, Theresa, Christine, and Celine; and great-grandchildren, Reese, Sydnie, Grady, Sophia, Lilly, Nico, Max, and Grayson.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Wagner; stepson, Richard O. Wagner, Jr.; siblings, Raymond, Joseph, and Marian; and son-in-law, Michael T. Murray.
Friends and family may call Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 9:45 a.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Fr. Joe Steinbauer will preside over the service. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute in Helen’s memory may do so to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio.
