Anna Mae (Vass) Weikle

  Anna Mae Weikle, 82, of Sandusky, unexpectedly passed away peacefully early Monday evening, November 13, 2017, surrounded by her family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
   Born on November 14, 1934, in White Sulphur Springs, WV the daughter of Edward Kenna and Nellie Virginia (Reynolds) Vass.  She had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (Division of General Motors) for 28 years, retiring in 2000.   She loved spending time with the family, but she especially loved cooking for them and her many friends on any special occasions or activities.
   Anna Mae was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post # 83, a life member of the AMVETS Post # 17 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Sandusky Orioles Club Nest # 279.
   She is survived by three sons, James Weikle, Jr., Bob Weikle and Mark (Rob Gorby) Weikle, all of Sandusky; three sisters, Ellen Kilianek of Sandusky, Cleo (Roy) Winebrimmer and Frances (Edwin) Bostic, both of West Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; love of her life, her husband of 53 years, whom she married on July 7, 1959,  James M. Weikle, Sr., who passed away on December 10, 2012; her brother, Charlie E. Vass; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Almina (James) Dunbar and Carol (Alvin) Winebrimmer;sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty (Warren) Cook; two nephews, Mike Ramboldt and Ralph Steele; her In-Laws, Elbert C. and Della M. Weikle; two brother-in-laws, U.S. Army Sgt. Cook Weikle, Jr. killed in the Korean War on November 23, 1951 and U.S. Navy Delford Weikle also killed in the Korean War in April 1955; a sister-in-law in infancy, Vera Weikle; and a special friend, Matt Martinez.
   At her request, private family funeral services will take place.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
