Yvonne Cecilia Landoll, aged 81, passed away on June 12, 2026, at her residence in Mount Alverna Village in Parma, OH.  Born in Monroe, Michigan, on March 22, 1945, to Carl Sr. and Clementine (Barnes) DuShane, Yvonne and her family moved to Sandusky in 1957, where she attended Sandusky High School. Yvonne married her high school sweetheart, David Landoll, on Sept. 8, 1962, the date chosen because it was the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Faith was central to David and Yvonne, and raising their family in the Catholic faith was of prime importance. Together, Dave and Yvonne raised their family in Sandusky and then moved to Bellevue for their retirement years. After Dave’s passing, she moved to the Commons of Providence in Sandusky and then to Mt. Alverna Village in Parma.

Yvonne was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She tirelessly gave of herself, honoring those roles and helping others who crossed her path. Her pumpkin pies, cornbread stuffing, and especially "green goop" fruit salad were highlights of her holiday dinners.  Her three sons carry the seeds of her faith and a legacy of her love of life.  Yvonne gave everyone she knew a treasure trove of memories.

Yvonne was active in many organizations.  She volunteered at her children's elementary schools. She was a past president of the Sandusky Eagles and was proud of her membership in the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 2529. She honored her father's service during World War II as a lifetime member of the American Legion.  Yvonne was a long-time active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky and Immaculate Conception in Bellevue.  She particularly enjoyed serving on the bereavement committee in both parishes.

Yvonne lived a life of modest means but was rich in friends.  She had several friends who were part of her life for over 60 years, and it was difficult for her as she watched many of her friends and family pass before her.

Yvonne’s faith informed her convictions on many important issues involving the dignity of the human person.  Whether regarding her family and friends or the greater community, Yvonne supported, without fear, justice in the workplace, in the home, and a person’s right to life itself.  She possessed wisdom of the human condition and understood people at a level that was marvelous to behold. It was a joy to hear Yvonne wish someone a happy birthday, as she always made sure to follow it up with the reminder, “This is the day God made especially for you.”  Yvonne had a great perspective on problems and would remind you that, “If money can fix it, then it really isn’t a problem.”

Yvonne enjoyed many different crafts throughout her life.  She was an accomplished ceramics painter and certified instructor. She generously gave of her time and talents to help others learn the craft.  Yvonne spent countless hours helping to restore many statues in the lower Basilica at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio, and in the sanctuary at Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue, Ohio.  Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have many treasures she created, including exquisite nativity sets.  

Yvonne was a lifelong Elvis Presley fan and could often be heard singing and dancing to his songs.  She made two pilgrimages to Graceland -- on the first and 40th anniversaries of Elvis' death and enjoyed an Elvis tribute artist’s performance at her 59th birthday party.

Yvonne travelled a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease.  She received great care and support, first from her husband, then from the staff at the Commons of Providence in Sandusky and Ancora at Mt. Alverna Village in Parma, OH.  Her family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of these facilities for all their care and support.  The kindness shown to the family in Yvonne’s last years and days by the lovely people at Mt. Alverna and Holy Family Hospice did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.  They became her family and always will be.  Many of them were with Yvonne in her final moments, and the compassion and love they poured out were a true gift to Yvonne and her family. Yvonne’s lifelong friend, Barb Chiow, was a great comfort. Her kindness and counsel were very much appreciated.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Clementine DuShane; her husband David in 2016; sister Geraldine Gibson Lentz; brother Carl Jr.; half-brother Michael; and by infant grandson Matthew John.

Yvonne is survived by her three sons, John (Lisa) of Columbus, Richard (Diane) of Broadview Heights, and Gary (Lori) of O'Fallon, IL;  grandchildren Allison (Michael) Scheiwe of Columbus, David Joseph of Columbus, David John "DJ" (Megan) of  South Bend, IN., Peter (Alora), Katherine, Rose all of Cleveland, and Michael, Christopher, Emily and Rachel, all of O'Fallon, IL; and, great-grandchildren Miles and Calvin Scheiwe of Columbus, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 4-7 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:30 pm at the David F Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Friday morning, June 19, 2026 at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Fr. Chris Turner officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.
