William H. "Bill" Catherman

William H. "Bill" Catherman, 86, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Wednesday evening, April 2, 2025, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born on October 18, 1938, in Sandusky, OH the son of Glenn Alton and Mary Elsie (Burmeister) Catherman.  He was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's High School.  Bill was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp. and having joined the Corp. with a group of his friends after graduation.

   Bill had worked for many years at Stein Inc. and at the same time he had worked at Old Towne Windows and owned and operated his own home improvement business, called "Bay Area Home Improvement " before retiring in 1994.

   Over the years, he had enjoyed spending time with the family and friends, taking time to go golfing, and he found comfort in piloting his boat out on the lake.  In his earlier days, he loved to play baseball and softball and he was thrilled when he was able to attend, in 1994, an Indians Fantasy Baseball Camp.

   Bill was a lifelong member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where he had been a lecturer for over 30 years and a life member of the A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #17.

   He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Georgia A. (Buckley) Catherman, whom he married on March 15, 1986;  a son, David Brown of St. Petersburg, FL; his daughter, Sarah (Tony) Klickner of Sandusky; 4 grandchildren,  Patricia "Trisha" Brown, Kylie (Tyler) Gundlach, Matthew and Andrew Lorcher and his great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Greyson, Aubryn and Braxton Gundlach.

   Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and a very close cousin, Ronnie Arthur.

   Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Monday morning, April 7, 2025, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Angles Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Prashanth Kumar officiating.  Following the Funeral Mass, military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 and the A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #17.  At his request cremation will take place following the services.
