William Robert Butler III

William Robert "Bob" Butler, III, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born on January 26, 1943, in Sandusky, OH the son of William Robert and Geraldine Edwina (Geason) Butler, II.  Bob was a 1961 graduate of Sandusky High School.   He had served honorably in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard for over 30 years, before retiring.  Bob had also worked for the General Telephone Company for many years, before retiring.

   Over the years, he had enjoyed boating, but he especially loved spending time with the family and attending the activities of his grandchildren and their sporting events.

   He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the U.S. Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association, and a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 2529 and the American Legion Post # 83.

   Bob is survived by a son, William R. "Bob" (Sarah) Butler, IV of Milan; his daughter, Dana (Butler) Weatherspoon of Amherst; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (Brad) Hawkins, Mackenzie, Jacqueline, Madison Butler, Trey (Marina) Keegan, Kelsey Keegan, Ty and Torre Weatherspoon; and his three great-grandchildren,  Mia, June, and Phoebe Keegan and one on the way.

    He was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine; his wife, Lana L. (Wallace) Butler (2012) and his daughter, Michelle L. (Butler) Keegan.

    It was his wish to be cremated.  A graveside service will be held for Bob on Friday afternoon, October 10, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, OH.  Rev. Michael C. Conklin of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 and the V.F.W. Post # 2529.
