Vera L. (Cook) Ulmer, 98, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 18, 2020, at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 13, 1922 in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Jonas Andrew and Emma (Hundley) Cook. Over the years, Vera was employed at Barr Rubber, Apex and later retired from New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) in 1977 with 30 years of service.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Local 913 Retiree Chapter.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Connie Porter of Sandusky; a stepson, Charles (Kaye) Ulmer of Huron; a granddaughter, Lisa (Greg) Hall of Clyde; a grandson, William (Michelle) Porter, Jr. of Huron; three great-grandchildren, Kayla (Alex) Lakner of Castalia, William (Jorden) Porter, III of Bay village and Ryan Hall of Clyde; three great-great-grandchildren, Ellie Porter of Bay Village, Emma and Ava Lakner of Castalia; three step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marcile Rickets of Bellefontaine, Alice Maiani of Bellevue and Doris Sheldon of Alger, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter H. Ulmer, Sr. on March 20, 2000; a stepson, Walter H. Ulmer, Jr.; two step daughter-in-laws, Lois and Doris Ulmer; five sisters and four brothers.
At the request of the family, private funeral services will be observed. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
