Thomas L. Yeager, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday evening, January 3, 2025, surrounded by his family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on August 21, 1941, in Sandusky, OH the son of Frank Andrew and Gertrude C. (Hiss) Yeager. He had attended St. Mary's Catholic High School (Class of 1960) and later in 2001 he had received his Honorary High School Diploma. In his earlier days, Tom's first job was working for the family business, "Yeager's Hauling" and later went on to work for the City of Sandusky Street Department, in maintenance, for 30 years, before retiring in 2002. Over the years he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and woodworking and he'll be remembered by his family as being an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and the Cavaliers.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, the Sons of AMVETS Post # 17, the Knights of Columbus, Council #546 and the Sons of the American Legion Post # 83.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Christine L. "Chris" (Todd) Christiansen of Toledo; and his son, Eric L. (Hilaria Walton) Yeager of Sandusky; and his siblings, Dave (Sally) Yeager of Toledo, Carol (Howard) Collins of Sandusky, Paul (Marsha) Yeager of Huron, OH and Julie (Mike) McCormick of Sandusky; a brother-in-law, Dave Wollf of Sandusky; his nieces and nephews; and cousins, OH; and his friend, Sue Hoelzer of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy J. "Sam" (Weis) Yeager (2001); a brother, Mike Yeager; and his sister, Mary Wollf.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 3-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. (THE FAMILY REQUESTS TO PLEASE DRESS CASUAL) Prayers will be recited Friday morning, January 10, 2025, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Chris Turner officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870; Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
