Shirley W. (Scheifley) Schoder, 86, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, at her home.
Born on November 19, 1939, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Erwin and Florence (Hemmer) Scheifley. She was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School. Shirley had worked at Krogers, in the Deli Depart., for 25 years, retiring in 2002.
She’ll be remembered for her nurturing spirit and love for family. She cared for her husband as he aged with Parkinson’s. She cared for her grandchildren, spending countless hours creating crafts, personalized cards and holiday sweatshirts. She shared her love of cooking and baking with family, friends and neighbors; baking dozens of cookies, cakes and pies for all occasions. She loved decorating the house for every season, and took great pride in planting many colorful flowers in her yard. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Curt (Kathleen) Schoder and Matt (Christina) Schoder, both of Sandusky; her four granddaughters, Maria, Diana (Sean Armen), Elizabeth, and Abigail Schoder; a brother, Gary (Patricia) Scheifley of Seattle, WA; her sister, Sandy Kellem of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Ronald O. "Ron" Schoder on November 17, 2024; and rescue dog, Fifi on September 19, 2025.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, December 20, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of the funeral services at 11 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH. Rev. Michael M. Conklin officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
