Shirley J. (Leonhard) White, 86, of Huron, passed away early Friday morning, June 28, 2024, at he home after a brief illness.
Born on July 24, 1937, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of John Edward and Henrietta "Louise" (Kromer) Leonhard. She was a 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School and throughout the years would hold monthly get togethers with her classmates, known as "The Girls Club." Shirley had been a homemaker and had also worked for many years at the Savings Building and Loan, in downtown Sandusky.
Over the years, Shirley loved spending time with her family and the grandchildren, enjoyed reading, decorative painting and spending time on the beach, especially at her home on the chaussee on Cedar Point.
Shirley was a life long member of the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church (now known as the Christ Community Church) where she had taught for some time an adult Bible Study class. She and her late husband, Milton "Mick", loved boating and had been an active member of the Power Squadron and had always looked forward to traveling to different get ways on the weekends.
Shirley is survived by her family, Cherry Stacey, Mark "Whitey" White and Christy White-Canter; her five grandchildren, Nicholas Stacey, Jessica (Ryan) Dunlap, Emily Stacey, Joshua Canter, and Samantha Canter; her six great-grandchildren, Warren, Autumn, Milton, Rayva, Ethan and Madilyn; a brother, John "Butch" Leonhard; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Milton F. "Mick" White; and her son, Michael John White.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and on Wednesday morning, July 3, 2024, from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am at the Christ Community Church, 2401 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Erin E. Porter officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sandusky.
