Shelby J. (Caudill) Natole - Hurst, 83, of Huron, passed away peacefully early Monday afternoon, October 26, 2020, with family at her side at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born on July 31, 1937, in Switchback, WV, the daughter of Clarence Riley and Arista Inez (Williams) Caudill. Shelby moved to Sandusky, OH from Superior McDowell, WV in 1954. She was a 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School. Shelby had worked for the Norfolk Southern Railroad, in Sandusky, for over 30 years, before retiring in 1999.
Back in the day, she enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing pinochle, reading the newspaper, watching TV, gardening, cooking, ceramics and listening to music. But she especially loved going to the local clubs (V.F.W., A.M.V.E.T.S. and the I.A.B. Club) to be with friends and family.
Shelby was a member of The Chapel, The National Railroad Labor Conference and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees (N.A.R.V.R.E.).
She is survived by her husband, James H. Hurst; her daughter, Kimberly (Willie) Moore of Norwalk; and her family, grandson, Jason (Jennifer) Kimbrel and great-granddaughter, Hanna Kimbrel; her son, Dwayne Allen (Vicky) Port of N. Tonawanda, NY; and his family, grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander Port; her three sisters, Loretta Ann (Ray) Tucker of Pompano Beach, FL, Brenda Carol Cole of Hagerstown, MD and Beatrice Virginia Dove of Gainesville, VA; her two brothers, Fred Daniel (Carol) Caudill of Trinity, FL and Marcus Allen Caudill of Hagerstown, MD; and her nieces and nephews; also her step-daughter, Deborah (Edward) Cullen of Castalia; a step-son, James M. (Brenda) Hurst of Sandusky; and her step-grandchildren, Joshua (Kim) Cullen, Jenna (Andrew) Mulry, Jared (Emily) Cullen and Sydney Hurst; and her step-great-grandchildren, Finley and Murphy Cullen, Lydia Belden and Cambell Cullen.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents; and her late husband, Anthony Vincent Natole (1999).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2020, from 11 am until time of the funeral services at 12 pm noon at The Chapel-Sandusky Campus, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky. Rev. David Brown officiating. Entombment will be at the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
