Sandra Lee Wick Obituary

Sandra "Sandi" Lee (DeBlase) Wick, 77, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully early Friday afternoon, January 17, 2025, surrounded by her family at the Admiral's Pointe Nursing Facility in Huron, after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 1,  1947, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Charles Angelo and Sadie Domenica (Capucini) DeBlase.  She was a 1965 graduate of Perkins High School. During her time at PHS she met her high school sweetheart turned beloved husband, Dave.

Sandi brought sunshine to every room she entered with a warm personality and kindness.  Grateful for the gift of a matriarch so sweet, her family is remembering her as the BEST wife and mother. Being a homemaker is the greatest calling, and Sandi fully embodied the phrase “heart of the home”. She adored spending time with family(especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who call her “Bama”). She also took great pride in cooking delicious meals and keeping a clean house. Some of her favorite pastimes include listening to music, feeding birds in the backyard, and taking long walks with her dog & dearest companion, "Murphy.”

Sandi’s time in the workforce included 20 years of service as a nurse aide at Gaymont Nursing Home in Norwalk. She also served in the positions of pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart, and sales associate at Lowe’s before retiring.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, David J. Wick, Sr., whom she married on August 21, 1965; her children, Tammy (Joseph) Palmison of Norwalk, Vincent (Lisa) Wick of Norwalk, Victoria (Troy) Laird of Bellevue and David J. Wick, Jr. of Huron; her seven grandchildren, Danielle “Yellie” (Briston) Brocker, Christopher (Joy) Smiley, Cameron Cordle, Mackenzie "Mac" Cordle, Evan (Hallie Kilbride) Wick, Carli Wick, and Brayson Wick; her 10 great-grandchildren, Briley, Elliott, Beckett, Colson, Lucas, Rylee, Colt, Nova, Atleigh and Maelynn.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

It was her wish to be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that since Sandi loved all animals beyond measure, especially her dogs, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Huron County, 426 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.
