Sandra Lee (Shafer) Gildenmeister

Sandra L. "Sandi" Gildenmeister, 76, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, November 10, 2023, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born on November 18, 1946, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Jerry Franklin and Mary Ellen (Bartlett) Shafter.   Sandi had been a beautician in the local area for nearly 50 years and had owned and operated her own shop, " Hair Unlimited," for many years.   She will be remembered by her family for her gift of gab as being a true conversationalist.         

   She is survived by her sons, Ron (Angela) Harkness of Columbus, OH and Keith (Shelly) Gildenmeister of Vickery, OH; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and her sisters and brothers, Robert F. (Jonnie) Shafer, Susan (Lee) Volmer, Vicki Shafer, Rick (Kathy) Shafer and Julie (Mike) Marsinko; and many nieces and nephews. 

   Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Geraldine N. "Jeri" Shafer.

   It was requested by the family for cremation to take place.  Graveside service will be held on Friday morning, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.  A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the service at the Castalia Lions Club.

   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
