Salvatore J. "Tod" Corso, 95, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on May 19, 1927, in Sandusky, OH the son of Peter Anthony and Angela (Scavio) Corso. He was a 1945 graduate of Sandusky High School. Tod had worked as a Purchaser at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) for over 30 years, before retiring. Over the years, Tod loved to play cards, golf, bowl and fish with his friends. In his earlier days he was a baseball coach for his son and had played softball.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he had been quite active as an usher, with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and had served Community Communion. Tod also had been a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 546.
He is survived by his family, Peter A. (Janis) Corso of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Angela T. (Chuck) Spalla of Akron, NY; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Paul, Alex, Sarah, Joshua, Chad, Lisa, Kathy and Stephanie; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn Carrigan of Calvary, Alberta, Canada; and his son-in-law, Raymond "Ray" Montbriand of Hazel Park, MI; and nieces and nephews.
Tod was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Teresa M. (Capizzi) Corso on July 1, 2020; his daughter, Maria N. Montbriand; and his sister, Rose "Patricia" Collins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022, from 8:30 am until time of prayers at 9:40 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.
