Ruth Ellen Asmus, 99, of Sandusky, passed away quietly early Monday afternoon, June 21, 2021, at The Gardens of St. Francis, in Oregon, OH.
She was born on June 27, 1921, in Kimball, OH to David and Hilda (nee Frees) Asmus. After graduating from high school, Ruth had a varied career throughout her lifetime in Sandusky, having worked as a seamstress at a dry cleaner, a clerk at Sears, and a jack of all trades at O.P. Crafts. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Erie County Senior Center.
Ruth had no children of her own, but she was a beloved aunt to Iretta (Junior) Gast, Paulette (John) Pyatt, Dale Gast, Glenn Gast, Duane (Lisa) Gast, Kevin (Terese) Gast, and J-C Jones-Kern.
She was was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Esther, Alvin, Nelson and Lenora.
At Ruth's request no visitation will be held. A graveside remembrance service will be held on Saturday morning, June 26, 2021, at 10:30 am at Oakland Cemetery, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky. Rev. Lenore Kure officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to one’s favorite charity.
