Russell L. "Russ" Ferry, 79, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2023.
Born on March 7, 1943, in Medina, OH the son of Arden Theodore and Eunice Mae (King) Ferry. He was a proud of being a member of the first graduating class from Perkins High School in 1961. Russ was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid, during the Vietnam Era. He had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) for 30 years, retiring in 1997. Over the years, he enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer, actually at one time he had been a scratch golfer, and he truly enjoyed golfing in scrambles with others. Russ had also used his skills and had volunteered for the local area Habitat for Humanity.
He was a member of the U.A.W. Local # 913 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 2529.
Russ is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra (Davis) Ferry, whom he married on September 10, 1963; a daughter, Lisa (Richard) Dutton of Fremont; his two sons, Lowell Arden Ferry and Matthew Kyle Ferry, both of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Quinn Miranda Green and her fiance', James Matthews Huff, and Cole Davis Green; and his two great-grandchildren, Camden and Athena Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Harold "Hal" Houston.
Private family funeral services to be held. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, OH 43452 or to Habitat for Humanity, 7602 Milan Road, Sandusky, OH 44870.
