Ronald Adelbert Sharpe

Ronald A. Sharpe, 76, of Sandusky,  passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, November 20, 2021, with family at his side at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness. 
   Born on May 18, 1945, in Sandusky, OH the son of Adelbert Howard and Irene Jane (Dillender) Sharpe.  Ron was a 1963 graduate of Sandusky High School.  He was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Ron was hired in 1967 with the Sandusky Police Department and was known to the members on the force as "LT" as he retired in 1994 with the rank of Lieutenant.  After retiring, for a very short time, Ron went on to be a groundskeeper at the Woussickett Golf Course for many years.  Needless to say, Ron loved playing golf and was a diehard fan of any sport played at The Ohio State University.  The family will remember him for his sense of humor which will live on in those, in the family, that it rubbed off on. 
   He was a longtime member of Faith Church and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) Lodge # 17.
   Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy M. (Taylor) Sharpe; a daughter, Rebecca (Rob) Pfanner of Sandusky; his son, Mark Sharpe of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Arianna Ehmer, Marina (Chris) Avila and Cpl. Lincoln (Zosia) Pfanner; and many great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy L. Steinbicker of W. Linn, OR; and many nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia A. "Patty" Wingfield.
   Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm at Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky. Pastor Tom E. Groot, Jr. and Rev. Kenneth L. Hiser officiating.  Prior to visitation, at 10;30 am, the F.O.P. Lodge # 17 will be holding a service.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Friends of #2083 Foundation, P. O. Box 375, Sandusky, OH 44870.
   Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
