Ronald A. Riedy, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Friday evening, December 4, 2020, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on June 2, 1937, in Sandusky, OH the son of Arthur Leander and Dorothy Emelia (Pooch) Riedy. Ron was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. Prior to the 1970's, Ron had worked as a volunteer fireman for the Perkins Township Fire Department for several years, he later became a full time fireman for the township. He later went on to work for Spoerr Precast Concrete , Inc. for many years, before retiring.
Over the years, Ron enjoyed going out fishing, but he especially looked forward to visiting the AMVETS Post # 17 and other local clubs, with his wife "BJ", to visit with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Beth Jo "BJ" (Wiedle) Riedy; his children, Jackie (Ted) Williams, Rondi (Jeff) LaMarca and Denise (Michael) Canfield, all of Sandusky, Becky (Mike) Posey of Bellevue, Ronnie (Michelle) Riedy, Jr. of N. Richland Hills, TX and Lisa (Jeff) Weber of Ft. Wayne, IN; a stepson, Rich (Kelly) Sommers of Fremont, OH; 20 grandchildren, Angela, Jason, Tony, Melissa, Autumn, Beth, Geoffery, Aubrey, Jocelyn, Cynthia, Richard, Michael, Brian, Sam, Keri, Kyle, Kayla, Kory, Johnathan and Sarah; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters. Dorothy Ann Gosser and Donna Jean Blakely; a brother, Robert Riedy, all of Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tamara Marie Riedy ; and a brother, Daniel "Danny" Riedy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 3-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, wearing of face masks (they will be offered) and social distancing will be mandatory. If you are uneasy about attending, please feel free to leave a message to the family on our website. It was his wish to be cremated following visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
