Ronald Laws Obituary

Ronald “Ron” G. Laws, 79, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022, at his home. Born on October 23, 1942, in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of George Albert and Elizabeth Jane “Betty” (Trautman) Laws. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and later attended Bowling Green State University and Toledo University.  Ron later retired from Delphi Inc. (a Division of General Motors) in 1999 where he worked for nearly 40 years.  After retiring, he later returned as a consultant for a few years having worked on special projects for General Motors in Brazil.  Ron was a people person who loved life, spending time with his family, boating, fishing, traveling and his times in Naples, Florida.  He had a love for cars and playing cards with his friends, all these things were important to him.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), the Sons of American Legion Post #83, a honorary member of the V.F.W. Post #2529, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. 

Ron is survived by his wife, Paula A. (Hoffman) Laws; two daughters, Shelly (James) Wolf of Shepherdsville, KY and Kimberlee Wimmer of Huron; his four sons, Ronald J. Laws of Toledo, Robert A. (Rochelle Gillespie) Laws of Amherst, Jeffrey H. (Renee) Laws of Sandusky and Matthew G. (David McGovern) Laws of Chicago, IL.; seven grandkids and six great-grand kids; three step-kids, Robin (Todd) Kasprenski of Columbia, NJ, Karin (Michael) Hudson of Cortland, OH and Stephen (Amy) Maag of Milan; seven step-grandkids; a sister Beverly (Donald) Knupke of Sandusky; two brothers, Dennis (Linda) Laws of Scottsdale, AZ and Gary (Shelley) Laws of Colorado Springs, CO; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife and high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann (Fischer) Laws on February 22, 2017.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 4-7pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Monday, April 11, 2022, at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH. Fr. Jacob George officiating. It was his wish to be cremated following the service. 

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to The Stein Hospice Services, Inc. 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Sandusky Central Catholic School Endowment Fund 410 W. Jefferson St. Sandusky, OH 44870.
