Robert C. "Bob" Seeholzer Obituary

Robert Charles "Bob" Seeholzer, 95, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, June 24, 2026, in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Born January 15, 1931 on Kelleys Island, he was the son of Carl Edward and Anna Laura (Martin) Seeholzer.  He was a 1949 graduate of Estes School on the Island. For years, Bob has been the patriarch of Kelleys Island, being the oldest, living born islander.  He loved to reminisce about the old days and his youth, especially how he would hunt on his way to school, leaving his gun in the outhouse during the day, then hunting on the way home.  Bob was always looking forward to the next family gathering and loved when everyone got together.

Bob was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) for over 40 years, retiring in 1991.

Over the years he had been an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, and in his earlier days he had bowled in the K of C Bowling League for many years.

Bob was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #546, and the A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #17.

He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara (Chris) Ohlemacher and Margaret (Dan) Schwerer of Sandusky; his two sons, Rob Seeholzer of Sandusky and John Seeholzer of Port Clinton; 12 grandchildren, Elise (Danny), Kristy, Lauren (Ryan), Jacob (Emily), Carliann, Nathan, Rebecca (Melvin), Abbey, Caid (Kayely), Eliana, Dylan and Deven; 8 great grand-children, Mason, Addison, Oakley, Austin, Cole, Isaac, Makenna and Billy; his sister, Coletta Walters of Elyria; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Jean Alberta (David) Seeholzer on January 22, 2022; his Mother and Father in-law Marguerite and Albert David, seven sisters, Mary Betzenheimer, Ruth Perruchon, Rita Betzenheimer, Dawn Kekelik, Alice Olwill, Laura Jean Pohorence, and Shirley Schreiner and his brother, Lyle Seeholzer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 4 - 7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Wednesday morning, July 1, 2026 at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Chris Turner officiating.  Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 and the V.F.W. Post #2529.

In honor of Bob's love for the Island, everyone is welcome and encouraged to wear Kelleys Island attire.

The family would like to give a heart-felt Thank You to the staff at OVH. Their kindness and care for our Dad is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
