Robert L. "Bob" Carson, 83, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, January 8, 2023, at the ProMedica Toledo Hospital, in Toledo, OH, after a brief illness.
Born on August 28, 1939, in Port Huron, Michigan, the son of Edward Grabenstein and Virginia Fern (Colley) Carson.
At the age of 18, he started working for Republic Steel for 17 years and later for Cliffs driving truck for 15 years. When Bob moved to the Sandusky area he had worked for Double S Industries, Ability Works and later for Goodwill Industries. Then for 17 years he had worked as a security guard for Serving Our Seniors. In 2018, he was awarded the Di Si Hing Certificate, before retiring.
Bob was always very supportive and active in the special needs community, he especially was a big supporter of the Special Olympics Bowling Program.
He is survived by a sister, Sandra (Russell) Dehart; a brother, Christopher (Tammi) Carson; nieces, Susan (Osa) McDowell, Sherry (Larry) Cox, Stephanie (Clay) Thompson, Blair (Troy Schneider) Carson and Sarah Carson; and his Sandusky family, Mark Weilke and Rob Gorby.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Susan Noreen Carson; and a sibling in infancy.
It was his wish to be cremated. Private services to be held at a later date. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to one's favorite charity .
