Richard Johnson Obituary

Richard W. "Dick" Johnson, 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Wednesday evening, January 20, 2021, at The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron, OH.
Born on September 2, 1930, in Sandusky, OH the son of Fred John and Pearl (Haynes) Johnson.  He was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High  School.  Dick was a self-employed painting contractor for 60 years, before retiring in 2001.   Over the years, he had enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing and had been involved in a variety of local leagues.  He was an avid sports fan and faithfully supported the Blue Streaks. Until unable, he was always on the sidelines cheering on his favorite teams. But he especially loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren. Dick was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and faithfully served for many years as treasurer and decon. Dick loved sharing the Good News of the Gospel with everyone he met and he would encourage others to seek the Lord. He would often share: Romans 6:23, KJV: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord with you today.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, June A. (LaCourse) Johnson; his family, Steven Johnson of Sandusky, OH, Tracy (Mark) Hollars of Dallas, GA, Michelle (Bobby) Garrett, of Lexington, KY, and; 6 grandchildren, Sophia, Alivia, Adeline, Benjamin, Claire, and Bryton.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister and brother-in-law, Wade (Alice) Garner. Private family funeral services to be held.   Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Arrangements are entrusted to the David F.
