Richard Charles Bettinger

Richard C. "Dick" Bettinger, 83, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, July 28, 2022 under great care at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Born to Charles Henry and Lucille Sophia (Tremmel) Bettinger in Sandusky, Ohio on February 11, 1939, he was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary's High School and a 1961 graduate of John Carroll University where he had received his Bachelor Degree in history and education. For many years, he had taught at Sts. Joseph & John Catholic grade school in Strongsville and at Telshe Yeshiva High School in Wickliffe. Dick was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews,

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters Mary Silverwood and Barb Cattano.

It was his wish to be cremated.  His family will receive friends on Saturday morning, August 6, 2022, from 10 am until time of the funeral liturgy at 11 am at David F Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky.  Deacon Jeff Claar officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. 

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Victory Temple Soup Kitchen, 1613 Hayes Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870.  .
