Peter Scott Daniel

Peter Scott Daniel, 64, of Sandusky, Ohio passed away peacefully late Saturday morning, December 24, at University Hospitals of Cleveland,  after a year long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
 
Pete was born on April 29, 1958, in Sandusky, Ohio to Robert James and Jane Eleanor (Gerold) Daniel.
 
After graduating from Sandusky St. Mary’s High School, Pete received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Ashland University. Pete began his career with Erie County in 1983 in the finance department as finance director and became the Erie County Administrator in 2013, retiring in April of 2021 from the county with 38 years of service.
One of Pete’s favorite pastimes was traveling to the casinos and vacationing in Las Vegas with his family. Pete was an avid Cleveland Browns, Guardians, Cavaliers, and Ohio State fan. Some of his favorite memories were made watching his daughter Darcy’s softball and basketball games at Perkins High School and Baldwin Wallace University.
 Pete is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Mary (Summers) Daniel, Sandusky; daughter Darcy (Sloan) Session, Austin, Texas; mother Jane (Gerold) Daniel, Sandusky; sisters and brothers Susan Daniel, Sandusky; Patricia (Daniel) Dawson, Columbus; Michael (Suzanne) Daniel, Bay View; Mark (Lisa) Daniel, McKinney, Texas; Andrew Daniel, Sandusky; nieces Kelly Dawson, Columbus; Sarah Zapata, Mesa, Arizona; Lauren Beltramo, Vancouver, Washington; Kayla Daniel, Columbus; Matt Daniel, Portland, Oregon with extended Daniel & Gerold families. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Anne Summers, Sandusky; sister-in-law Julie (Summers) Fidler, Sandusky; brother-in-law RC Summers, Sandusky; nephew Tyler (Alayna) Stewart, Sandusky; nieces Alana Fidler and Kaylee Summers, both of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Daniel, father-in-law Rudd Summers Jr., and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, December 29, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, from 9:15 am until time of services at 10 am when a Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be held for Peter.  Deacon Bill Burch will be officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.
