Paul H. Guerra, 87, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, October 1, 2021, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Born on May 14, 1934, in Sandusky, OH, at the family home in Little Italy, he is the son of Attilio and Desolina Marie (Savini) Guerra.  He was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School.  Paul was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
In years past, he had worked for the (ODNR) Ohio Department of Natural Resources and later owned and operated The Pump and The Barn for several years in the 1960's.   For the last 40 years of his working days, Paul and his wife, Margaret, had traveled the country as he was a wholesale jewelry salesman, never really ever retiring.
His love in life was playing golf and when he wasn't playing he was making custom made golf clubs for others.  Paul and his wife, over the years, were members of golf leagues at the Thunderbird Golf Course, Sawmill Creek Golf Course (where in had a hole-in~one on #7) and at the Fremont Country Club.  Also, from the age of 80 until 84, he was involved with the V.O.A. (Volunteers of America).
Paul was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Italian-American Beneficial Club (where he had been involved for many years in different capacities), the Fremont Country Club, the American Legion Post #83 and the Huron Eagles Aerie #444.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori (Mark) Schmiehausen of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Joseph "Joey" Capizzi, II, Paulie Capizzi, Desolina Prenatt and Michael Schmiehausen; his five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ken Guerra of Kona, HI; nieces and nephews; and his very best friends, Jim Damanti and Jack Hedberg.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Margaret A. (White) Guerra on October 1, 2015; a daughter, Lynn M. Capizzi (May 31, 2021); and his sister, Rita M. Astolfi (2020).
It was his wish to be cremated.  Private family services are to be held.  Entombment will be in the Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Back to the Wild, P.O. Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824 or to the American Heart Association, 1375 E. 9th Street, #600, Cleveland, OH 44114.
