Michael P. "Johnstone" Johnson, 79, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2025, with his wife at his side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH.
Born on September 15, 1945, in Sandusky, OH the son of Marvin Francis and Ruth Agnes (Shimp) Johnson. He was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Mike had worked at the Sandusky Ford Motor Co. for 40 years, retiring in 2004. Over the years he had enjoyed golfing, as a member of the K of C Golf League, and playing dart ball, but he especially loved and looked forward to going on golf trips, with his wife Melissa, to Mt Pleasant, MI and to Virginia.
Mike was a member of the Ford U.A.W. Local.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melissa A. (DeCaro) Johnson, whom he married on August 14, 1993; his sister, Claire (Brian) Scheid; a sister-in-law, Michelle M. (Dan) Kaman; his brother-in-law, Michael P. (Kristin) DeCaro; a niece, Kayle (Ben) Stover and her son, Dawson; his nephews, Daniel (Renay) Kaman and his family Maria and DJ III; and Ian and Koy DeCaro; a daughter, Kelly Soule; and his son, Scott Johnson; his grandchildren; and his very good friend, Mike Ross.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeff Johnson; and his three brothers, Jim, Bill, and Chuck Johnson.
It was his wish to be cremated with no funeral services held.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
