Michael A. "Mike" Beatty, 68, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, Jan. 1, 2024, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1955, in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of Robert James and Elizabeth Clare (Dickerjack) Beatty. He was a 1975 graduate of Sandusky High School. Mike had worked for ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) for over 30 years before retiring in 2015. After retiring, Mike went on to paint with his brother, Pat, known as the "Village Painter.”
Mike was devoted to his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and will be remembered by his family for his love for hunting (mostly for duck), fishing (especially fly-fishing), and camping with his family. He was also an avid collector of Lionel trains.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Amy C. (Zimmerman) Beatty, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1990; his son, Spencer (Colleen) Beatty of Akron; and nephews, Ryan (Nicole Wigington) Beatty of Ironwood, MI and Chase (Ashley) Beatty of Rochester, N.Y.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Patrick L. "Pat" Beatty.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 10,at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with Fr. Zach Brown officiating.
