Mary Mazza Obituary

 Mary "Mimi" (Muratori) Mazza, 98, of Bellevue, OH passed away peacefully early Saturday evening, August 8, 2020, with her daughter at her side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
   She was born on November 18, 1921, in the Republic of San Marino, Italy the daughter of August and Anita (Massotti) Muratori.  At the age of 12 years old she came to the United States and later she became a U.S. citizen.  For 27 years, Mary had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors), retiring in 1978.  She enjoyed cooking meals from her native San Marino and was an avid fan of old movies and John Wayne.  Mary also loved watching LeBron James play basketball, but she especially loved watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football team play.
   She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the U.A.W. Local #913.
   Mary is survived by her daughter, Marilyn M. (John) Hamann of Bellevue; a daughter-in-laws, LeeAnn Mazza of Sandusky; nine grandchildren, Lee (Kim) Mazza, Marlene (Jay) Gundlach, Brian Mazza, Ryan (Erin), Michael (Becki), Brandon (Nikki) Schnittker, Melanie (Ben) Gyde, Kristy (Paul) Johnson and Myron (Lisa) Ransom; 17 great-grandchildren, Kailee (Emmanuel) Ponce, Anthony (Merissa) and Alayna Mazza, Jordan and Jacob Gundlach, Mason Mazza, Clay and Alex Gyde, Brooklynn Johnson, Kennedy, Paige, Gianni and John Schnittker, Jimmy and Sam Schnittker, Logan and Sydney Ransom; six great-great-grandchildren, Ciana Mary and Emilio Ponce, Anthony, Caleb, Brody and Audrey Mazza and one due in January; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony "Tony" Mazza (February 13, 1980);  two sons, Robert D. Mazza (2012) and Larry L. Mazza (2017); a grandson, Lonnie L. Mazza (1966); a brother, Charles "Hugo" Muratori (1984); a daughter-in-law, Katherine Mazza; and three "very special" sister-in-laws, Cecelia Muratori (2005), Maria Mazza (2010) and Rose Mazza (2012).
   It was Mary's wish to be cremated.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her on Monday morning, August 17, 2020 at  10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Chris Jesudhason officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.  Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, wearing of face masks (they will be offered) and social distancing will be mandatory.  If you are uneasy about attending, please feel free to leave a message to the family on the website.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
   The Mazza family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and aides of Stein Hospice for the loving care that they had given their mother during this very trying time in her life, it was truly deeply appreciated.
