Mary Ann Forster

Mary Ann Forster, 95, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Friday evening, May 19, 2023, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.

   Born on October 7, 1927, in Willard, OH the daughter of Philip and Frances (Leitz) Forster.    She was a graduate of Willard High School and the Providence School of Nursing, in Sandusky. 

   In her earlier days, Mary Ann was a cosmetologist, having graduated from the Minnick Beauty School, in Mansfield, OH , in 1947 and later went on to the Providence School of Nursing becoming a registered nurse.   She had worked for over 30 years at Providence Hospital and had also been the Associate Director of Nursing , retiring in 1989.

   Over the years, Mary Ann enjoyed reading and visiting with the family.   She will be remembered by her family for her love of traveling, especially taking international trips, to places like Germany, the Netherlands, Russia (during the Cold War), and to other foreign countries abroad.  

   She was a member of  Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Providence School of Nursing Alumni.

   Mary Ann is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister in childhood, Agnes Forster; and her four brothers, Bernard, Robert, Eugene, and more recently on May 11, 2023, her brother, Fr. Francis Forster, from the Belmont Abbey, in Belmont, NC. 

   Visitation will be held on Friday morning, May 26, 2023, from 8:30 am until 9:45 am at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating.  Private graveside services will be held with burial in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Willard, OH.

   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sandusky Central Catholic School Endowment Fund, 410 W. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
