Mary L. Fenker-Lindsley, 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on August 20, 1929, in Sandusky, OH and resided there all her life, she is the daughter of Dr. William T. and Mary Lillie (Cheetham) Fenker. She graduated from Sandusky High school in 1947 and graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1951. For thirty-two years she taught first and second grade, first at Campbell Elementary School and then finished her teaching career at Ontario Elementary School of Sandusky.
She was active in various educational organizations and was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her husband, Neal A. Lindsley, whom she married on June 7, 2017; a niece, Mary (Fisk) Wise and her husband, Jim, of Vallejo, CA; her nephews, Dr. Albert (Judith) Fisk of Seattle, WA, Dr. David Fisk of Santa Barbara, CA, William (Sue) Fisk of Oakland, CA and John (Stacey) Fisk of Kensington, MD; cousin-in-law, Margaret Cheetham of Sandusky; a sister-in-law, Ann (Harry) Wright of Huron; and her brother-in-laws, Ben (Bonnie) Lindsley of Huron and Don (Caron) Lindsley of North Ridgeville, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William John Fenker, who was a fighter pilot in World War II and was missing in action; her sister, Ruth (Dr. Albert) Fisk; and cousins, Clyde Cheetham of Sandusky, William Cheetham of Sandusky and Jack Cheetham of San Antonio, TX.
Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, February 6, 2020, from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Lenore L Kure officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm, Thursday afternoon, at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
