Martha Koch Obituary

Martha L. (Homegardner) Koch, 88, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, January 8, 2011, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness. She was born on January 28, 1922 in Sandusky, to Albert George and Marie Rose (Baur) Homegardner. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1939 and attended Sandusky Business College. Martha worked as a payroll clerk for the Perkins Local School District from 1967 until her retirement in 1984. Mart, along with her husband, visited all 50 states, most of Canada and some European Tours. They bravely traveled the Alaskan Highway and survived the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco. Martha and her husband spent many winters in Florida, staying at Treasure Island, where all of their kids and grandkids loved to visit. She truly loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a great wife and devoted mother. Martha was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and attended Holy Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards and was involved in many local card clubs throughout the years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert C. Koch, Sr., whom she married November 3, 1945; children, Robert C. (LuAnne) Koch, Jr., of Perkins Two., Greg A. Koch of Huron, Tom M. (Sue) Koch, Kim A. Kromer, and David F. (Tina) Koch, all of Sandusky, Ann L. (Jim) Perry of Merrimack, N.H.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary M. Scagnetti of Bellevue and Ida E. (Bud) Kusser of Sandusky; two brothers, George J. (Elsie) Homegardner and Roy E. (Doris) Homegardner of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Savord. Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm Tuesday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Contributions may be made to Sts.
