Mark R. Michel

Mark R. Michel passed away peacefully at his home on May 21, 2024, in Taylors, South Carolina, at the age of 58. Mark was born on October 23, 1965, in Sandusky, Ohio. His journey began as the beloved son of Denise Trimble and Robert Michel.

Mark was a 1984 graduate of St. Mary's Central Catholic High School and a 1991 graduate of Ohio University. Mark's life was further blessed when he met and married the love of his life, Maribel D. Michel. Together, they built a life rich in mutual respect, joy, and unwavering support.

Mark’s love for sports was undeniable, with a particular affinity for the Cleveland Browns and his OU Bobcats. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan and a member of “The Browns Backers” of South Carolina.

Mark could be found spending countless hours tending to his backyard oasis. The pool, plants and flowers were extensions of his home and Mark took a great deal of pride caring for his pool and the landscaping that surrounded it. 

Along with his pool, music filled Mark's soul and brought him so much joy. He specifically had a passion and love for Tom Petty and reggae music. 

Mark leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his wife of 26 years, Maribel “Bel” (Diaz) Michel, whom he married on February 14, 1998; his father, Bob (Joanne) Michel of Huron; his mother, Denise Trimble and his step-father Robert Trimble of Castalia; his brother Matt (Nichole) Michel of Sandusky; his niece Macy (Tyler) Tucker of Sandusky; his nephew, Noah Michel of Sandusky. Mark was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

It was his wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4-7pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

The family suggest that memorials may be made in his memory to The Cleveland Browns Foundation to help youth in Northeast Ohio gain access to education and development opportunities, http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/foundation; or to your local Browns Backers group.
