Marjorie J. "Marge" (Baker) Scavio, 92, of Huron, passed away peacefully late Monday morning, August 16, 2021, with family at her side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born in Sandusky, OH on August 10, 1929, the daughter of George Edward and Lucille (Armbruster) Baker. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1948 and on November 27, 1948, she married the love of her life, Thomas L. "Tom" Scavio.
Marge was employed by the Erie County Sewer and Water Department for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1992. She was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she served as Chairman of the Funeral Luncheon Committee for many years, also served as Eucharistic Minister at the 8 am Mass and also went to Parkvue Nursing Home for prayer and communion services in the Chapel every fourth Thursday of each month. She also had worked at Care and Share for a few years and part-time at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in the office for 15 years. In the seventies, she served as Chairman of the Erie County American Cancer Society and was also on the Board for 7 years.
Marge is survived by her children, Douglas (Diane) Scavio of Temperance, MI, Renee' (James) Hofbauer of Oregon and Marsha (Paul) Yeager of Huron; her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, Gia, Josh, Jimmy, Nikki, Ryan, Kelly, Adriana and Vincent.; her 16 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Emily, Gavin, Nathan, Caitlyn, Ryan, Jr., Lucas, Landon, Hadley, Avery, Cooper, Blake, Ashton, Hudson, Willow Jane and Haven; a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Lombardy of Sandusky; and a special cousin, June Spechio of Hampton, VA; and her nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, whom she married on November 27, 1948, Thomas L. "Tom" Scavio on April 22, 2015; her son, Thomas P. "Tommy" Scavio on December 4, 2007.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Friday morning, August 20, 2021, at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Marty Nassr and Fr. Frank Kehres officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.
