Marilyn (Manganiello) Sample

Marilyn (Manganiello) Sample, 94, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, December 28, 2025, at the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.

   Born on November 25, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, New York, the daughter of Henry Fiore and Josephine Marie (Schillaci) Manganiello.  She was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon, NY and later graduated from the Mt. Vernon Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.  Marilyn moved to the Sandusky area in 1959 from New York.  She had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Good Samaritan Hospital, in Sandusky, for 10 years and later went on to work at the Erie County Care Facility for 10 years, before retiring in 1992.

Marilyn was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

   She is survived by her children, Thomas "Tom" (Candace) Sample of Sandusky, JoEllen (Larry) Michel of Huron, Kathleen (Michael) Mulvin of Sandusky, Jeanne (Matthew) Melillo of Wichita, Kansas, and Diane (Ted) Kluding of Norwalk; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

   Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Thomas L. Sample on October 31, 2021; her daughter, Marilyn Ann Turner on May 4, 2019; son-in-law, Gregory Turner; and her two brothers, Henry "Hank" and Thomas Manganiello.

   Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2026 from 3-5 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Prayers will be recited Friday morning, January 2, 2026, at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Prashanth Kumar officiating.  Cremation will be held following the funeral services.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium, Sandusky.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Catholic Parishes of Sandusky, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
