Marilyn J. "Sissy" McKenna, 85, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, April 3, 2021, at Stein Hospice Care Center, in Sandusky.
Born on May 14, 1935, in Sandusky, Marilyn was the daughter of Hugh "James" and Edna Delphine (Baughman) McKenna. A 1953 graduate of Sandusky High School, Marilyn had worked for nearly 30 years at Vulcan Materials, and later went on to work 17 years at Dixon-Ticonderoga before retiring in 2001.
Over the years, Marilyn enjoyed volunteering at Helpmates. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she was quite active as a volunteer at both the church and on the bereavement committee. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society (Past President), Trinity Circle #385 of the Daughters of Isabella (Past Regent) and Prector Zeta Omicron Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi where she received a number of awards throughout the years.
Marilyn is survived by a nephew, Richard M. "Mike" (Yon-Cha) Mees of N. Ridgeville; a niece, Amie Jo (Jim) Satchell of St. Petersburg, FL; three great nephews, James, Derrick and Michael; a great niece, Zora; great great twin nephews, Dawson and Logan; along with cousins and other relatives. Marilyn was fondly called Aunt Sissy by her beloved family and considered the Matriarch of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Rosemary E. Mees (2007).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 4-6 p.m. at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, the wearing of face masks (which will be offered) and social distancing will be enforced. If unable to attend, please feel free to leave a message to the family at the website listed below. Prayers will be recited Thursday morning, April 8, 2021, at 9:40 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Chris Jesudhason officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
