Marilyn J. (Mesenburg) Clay, 92, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, March 20, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
Born on December 28, 1929, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Frank Xavier and Della Marie (Riedy) Mesenburg. She was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School. Marilyn worked as a Head Cashier at Pic-in-Pay and at A & P for several years, before retiring in 1986. Over the years, she volunteered at Providence Hospital and for S.H.I.P. (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program.
Marilyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was a Distributor and was involved with Sunday collections.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Geralyn (Elmer) Lippert of Castalia and Cheryl (Ken Blakely) Miller of Huron; 2 granddaughters, Amber (John) Lippert-Kersker of Perrysburg and Ashley (Randall) Kwiatkowski of Lakewood; 3 step-grandchildren, Brian (Kristi) Miller, David (Nikki) Miller and Andrea Miller; 2 great-granddaughters, Addison and Ella Kersker; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Madeline, Brianna and Landon; and nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Gerald W. "Jerry" Clay on July 12, 2008; her son-in-law, Scott Miller; and 4 sisters, Ruth Weyer, Dorothy Brightman, Rita Earle and Esther Fitzthum.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 4-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marilyn on Thursday morning, March 24, 2022, at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating. It was her wish to be cremated following the service. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
