Margherita (Sortino) Terranova

Margherita (Sortino) Terranova, 89, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 26, 2022, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
   Born on August 19, 1933, in Modica, Sicily the daughter of Michele and Pasqualina (Caruso) Sortino.    Her life was her family.   She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
   Margherita is survived by two daughters, Lena (George) Spadaro and Josie (Dan) Angelo, both of Sandusky; a son, Peter (Teresa) Terranova of Hilliard, OH; nine grandchildren, Celia (Mike) Carbo, Katy Angelo, Marco (Kaitlin) Spadaro, Christian (Shelby) Angelo, Elisabeth (Nick) Palella, Giselle Spadaro, Eric, Michael and William Terranova; three great-grandchildren, Giuliana and Giorgio Spadaro and Emery Angelo; her sister, Giovanna Ruta; two brothers, George (Nancy) Sortino and James (Rosaria) Sortino; and her nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Giovanni "John" Terranova on September 25, 2016; and her brother, John Sortino.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her on Saturday morning, December 31, 2022, at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating.  Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
   Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
