Marcel is survived immediately by Auguste Louis Leysens (son, wife Maria), Adele Lucille (nèe Leysens) Calmer (daughter) and Maurice Albert Leysens (son, wife Nancy). Marcel and Camelia also have seven grandchildren Brian (wife Paula) Calmer, Keith (wife Ashley) Calmer, Mackenzie Calmer, Anna Calmer, Casey Calmer, Nicholas Leysens, Gregory Leysens (Auguste and Maria) , Isabelle Leysens  and Perry Leysens (Maurice and Nancy). And finally, great grandchild Landon Calmer (Brian and Paula), Emma and Kaylee Calmer (Keith and Ashley) and Claire Calmer (Casey).

Marcel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a newly immigrated family from Belgium. The family soon moved to the west side of Cleveland, Ohio. After school Marcel pursued a career in art, attending the Cleveland School of Art. This was interrupted by WWII. Marcel enlisted in the Navy and was in active duty on the USS Oakland achieving the rank of Coxswain. Marcel’s father unexpectedly died while he was on tour. He returned to the States after that and remained. He met Camelia (b. Rouen, France) during this time. Camelia and Marcel were wed on Nov 20, 1948 in Ft Wayne, IN. Marcel was a man devoted to his family. Marcel and Camelia were married for 60 years.  Marcel worked at the same place as his father, replacing him in trade and role at Photo Litho Plate. He worked there until his retirement in 1983.

Marcel had many interests throughout his life. A lifelong talent for drawing and painting and a passion for photography. An avid amateur historian (in particular, America’s Civil War) and a model ship builder, for which he built a dozen or more in retirement.
