Louise M. (Camara) Slauterbeck, 84, Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, February 11, 2020, at The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.
She was born March 22, 1935, in Somerset, MA, the daughter of Mathias and Amaral "Marie" (Miguel) Camara. She was employed as a cook in the cafeteria at the Sandusky Ford Motor Company, and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
She enjoyed trips with her husband, and her favorite was traveling back home to Massachusetts a couple times each year. She also loved boating, fishing, music, listening to karaoke and visiting casinos. She played baseball in her younger years and enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians. Louise opened her heart and home to family and friends, and especially loved visits from her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Louise is survived by her husband of 65 years, Delton F. Slauterbeck, Sr., her three sons, Delton (Deanna) Slauterbeck, Jr. of Sandusky, Steven (Roberta) Slauterbeck of Huron and Robert (Diana) Slauterbeck of Norwalk, seven grandchildren, Joseph "Scottie", Nicholas, Ashlee, Taylor, Jeremy, Julia and Jacquelyn; 16 great-grandchildren, a brother, Laurence Camara of Swansea, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Hilda Torres and Natalie Camara, and three brothers, Louie, who was her twin, Mathias "Marty" and Jerome Camara.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020, from 6-8 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Saturday morning, February 15, 2020, at 9:30 am the funeral home by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, with Fr. Jeff Walker officiating. Entombment will be in the Gallery of Cedars Mausoleum in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
