Lois M. (Windau) "Grandma Cookie" Moll, 102, of Sandusky, passed away late Monday evening, May 9, 2022, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after an illness.
Born on December 16, 1919, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Eugene Francis and Hilda Josephine (Reidy) Windau. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary's High School. In her earlier days she had been a beautician and later went on to work for many years in the St. Mary's School Cafeteria, before retiring.
Over the years, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and gardening, but will be remembered by her family especially for how she was a fabulous baker (blueberry pie) and cook (potato salad). She was known to make dozens and dozens of cookies, mostly her "sugar" cookies, earning her the nickname "Grandma Cookie." She loved spending time with family and her grandchildren and she would amaze them for how wonderful her memory was, for her age, remembering the names of all those that would visit her.
Lois was a very staunch catholic, as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she had volunteered in years past on the bereavement committee and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. With her husband, Karl, she had been involved with the Rod and Gun Club, in Norwalk, OH so the two of them could go square dancing.
She is survived by family, Peggy Soblesky of Sandusky, William "Bill" Moll of Atlanta, GA and Rita (Leonard) Disalvio of Sandusky; her grandchildren, Michael, Connie, Brian (Patty), Rick, Christa (Steve), Daniel, Kelly, Amy (Chris), Lana and Deric; her great-grandchildren, Sydney, Aubrey, Spencer, Ryan, Mac, Julia, Collin, Dean, Mason and Danon; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl R. Moll (July 14, 2011), two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeanne (Robert) Kramer and Rita Windau; and two brothers and sisters-in- law, Albert (Audrey) Windau and Rolland (Marge) Windau; her son-in-law, John Soblesky; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Moll.
Visitation will be Monday morning, May 16, 2022, from 9 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave, Sandusky. Fr. Zachary Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. The family would also like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Stein Hospice for the love and care given to their mother during this trying time.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
