Lois J. (Black) Hummel, 95, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2020, at Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on August 25, 1925, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Howard James and Gladys (Lipp) Black. She was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. Over the years, she had worked at the Coal Docks and at the Philco Corp. during the war years. She was involved with Toys for Tots from 1970 - 1990's.
Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved with a variety of groups within the church. She also been a member of the Isabella Circle.
She is survived by her son, David L. Hummel of Sandusky; her two daughters, Cathy (David) Didion of Sandusky and Susan Diamond of Galloway, OH; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, Thomas, Julie, Tiffany, Laura, Shari, Amanda, and Anna Marie; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard "Joe" (Sally) Black of Sandusky and Donald (Doris) Black of Bay View; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George E. Hummel (1994); and her son, Richard J. Hummel (2010); son-in-law, John Diamond.
Private graveside services have taken place with burial in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
