Lenore E. Herron passed away June 1, 2020 at the age of 101. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Kendall Herron, her daughter, Patricia, her son Tim and son-in-law, Eric Spadaro. Lenore's second daughter, Linda, passed away in 2014.
Mrs. Herron was born in Cleveland, Ohio April 1919 to her parents Jimmy and Ruth Krause. She was raised in a small house on Union Avenue next to her grandfather, Martin Gaub, a German immigrant, who owned a feed and grocery where Lenore often worked as a child, Lenore was the oldest of 3, with two younger brothers, Richard and Donald, both veterans and Donald, a graduate of West Point Academy. Lenore's great joy as a young girl was selling candy to school children at her grandfather's store. Lenore graduated in 1937 from John Adams High School.
Lenore met her husband, Kendall, in 1949 while ice skating at the Cleveland Arena. Lenore and Kendall were married November 28, 1950 during the Great Thanksgiving Snowstorm of 1950. Their wedding was delayed due to the storm.
Lenore and Kendall raised their 3 children in Solon, Ohio until 1979 when they moved to Loveland, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. Lenore was an avid golfer, an accomplished seamstress, cook and organist. She had two holes-in-one playing golf, the last one in Cincinnati at the age of 91.
Lenore and her husband moved to Sandusky in 2016 to be closer to family. Lenore had a captivating, warm personality and was a friend to all whom she met. She developed a deep wisdom during her long life. Her favorite saying she repeated often, even more meaningful during these challenging times, was "and this too shall pass."
At the request of the family all funeral services will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
