LeRoy E. "Lee" Boone, 86, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Friday morning, May 21, 2021, at his home.
Born on October 8, 1934, in Vermilion, OH the son of Earl Clark and Ethel (Lee) Boone. Lee was a 1952 graduate of the Berlin Heights High School. For 25 years, he had worked at the Scott Paper Company as a Calendar Operator (wax paper) until 1980, then he went on to work at Famous Supply for 15 years, where he eventually retired. He will be remembered by how he loved camping and taking road trips, with his wife, Joan, around the country, especially to Texas to visit family and also their many trips to Amish country in Ohio.
Lee was a proud member of the N.R.A..
He is survived by his daughter, Lois A. Boone; his two sons, Jack (Brenda) Boone and Jerry (Silke) Boone; nine grandchildren, Brandi (John) Rooney, Dr. Tiffany (Chad) Taylor, Jeremy (Courtney) Boone, Ashley (Tom) Walsh, Stephanie (Todd) Spore, Michelle (Shaun) McLaughlin, Aubrey, Jocelyn and Rachel Boone; his 12 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Makayla Rooney, Mason, Mitchell and Madelyn Boone, Isla and Fisher Walsh, Alexa, Joseph and Giuliana Spore, Aria and Skylar McLaughlin, and one on the way; his sister, Rosie Newsom; and his nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Joan K. (Wichman) Boone on August 30, 2017; a son, Lynn Boone; a sister, Katie Dedman; his three brothers, Earl "Sonny" Boone, Jr., Jack and Luther Boone; a sister-in-law, Ginny Kent; and a brother-in-law, Weldon Newsom.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from 5-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Service, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Following visitation, at his request cremation will take place. Interment will be held at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
