Kerry Jo Pettry, 73, of Wakeman, passed away peacefully late Tuesday morning, June 25, 2024, with family by her side at the Fisher -Titus Medical Center, in Norwalk, OH.
Born on October 26, 1950, in Lorain, OH the daughter of Melvin and Eleanor Matilda (Mihelic) Stursa. She was a 1969 graduate of Clearview High School.
Over the years, Kerry Jo had been a bus driver for a variety of local transit systems and had also been a caregiver for many years for others, before retiring. She will be remembered by her family for her compassion, kindness and faith in God. Her fun-loving personality was always a joy to be around. Also, she enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, sewing, and spending time with her family and the grandchildren.
Kerry Jo is survived by two daughters, Christina "Chrissy" Pettry and Lisa (Johnny) Haponek, both of Wakeman; her three grandchildren, Brandon Pettry, Sierra Sanchez and Brittany (Andrew) Hernandez; eight great-grandchildren, Jayden Pettry, Nehemiah Pettry, Ava Sanchez, Alexzandria, Cassidy, Andrew "AJ", Haylee and Elijah Hall; her brother, Wayne (Karen) Stursa of Lorain; her two sisters, Michele (Duane) Thompson and Marina Reyes, both of Amherst Twp., OH; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Joyce Melnyczuk.
It was her wish to be cremated. A "Celebration of Kerry Jo's Life" will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Southern Care Hospice Service, 132 W. Main Street, Suite #2, Norwalk, OH 44857.
