Nila "Kay" Stewart, 86, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday evening, January 25, 2025, at The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron, after an illness.
She was born on January 23, 1939, in LaPaz, IN the daughter of Frederick and Dessie LaVerne (Holland) Wiegand. Kay was a 1957 graduate of Bremen High School. In years past, she had worked at the Y.M.C.A. for 20 years and later went on to work at Industrial Nut Inc. for many years, before retiring. In her earlier days she enjoyed spending time with the family and the grandchildren, working in her garden, sewing (even her daughter's cheerleading outfits back in the days). Kay was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Katherine "Kathy" (Britt) Wadsworth of Sylvania; her son John Stewart of Temperance, MI; her 6 grandchildren, Caroline (Tom) Wadsworth, Dana (Doug) McEwan, Brian (Emily) Wadsworth, Dean (Cami) Stewart, Dylan (Ashley) Stewart and Brad Wadsworth; and her eight great-grandchildren, Owen, Oliver, Thomas, Catherine, Timothy, Trenten, Clay, and Dottie.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Dennis.
Private family services to be held. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky.
The family suggest that memorial contributions be made in her memory to The Meadows at Osborn Park, 3916 Perkins Avenue, Huron, OH 44839 or to the Heartland Hospice, 907 W. State Street, Suite A, Fremont, OH 43420.
