Kathleen Ann (Hiss) Downs

Kathleen A. "Kathy" Downs, 76, of Sandusky, OH passed away peacefully Monday morning, November, 13, 2023, surrounded by her family at Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home, in Huron, OH.

   Born on October 5, 1947, in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Frederick Lawrence and Laura Jean (Kenne) Hiss.   She was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary's Central Catholic High School.  For many years, Kathy had driven school bus for the Perkins Local School System.

   She was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2529 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #83 Ladies Auxiliary. 

   Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, David G. Downs whom she married on May 26, 1973;  two daughters, Julie (Johanna) Hofacker of Sandusky, OH and Jennifer (Isidore "Isie") Shank of Cleburne, TX: and her son, Daniel (Susana) Downs of Castalia, OH; 8 grandchildren, Wayne Michael Fox, Cheyenne (Diamond) Cardona, Caleb Schlett, Tessa  and Lillian Shank, Veronica Vaughn, Elliana and Lucas Downs; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia; and her six brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Downs; and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Fox .

   At the request of the family all funeral services will be private.   It was her wish to be cremated following the services.

   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to "Wings of Hope," 4200 County Road #806, Cleburne, TX 76031. 

   Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
