Karen Lynn (Phillips) Gundlach, 75, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday evening, March 28, 2026, with her family at her side in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
Born on April 24, 1950, in Linton, Indiana, the daughter of Charles William Duncan and Onieta Pearl Phillips. Over the years, she had enjoyed floral arranging and cake decorating, but she especially loved to sing karaoke and at one time had, "Karen's Karaoke," which she had run with her Uncle Don for several years. She will also be remembered by her family for her love of animals.
Karen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post # 83 and the Huron Eagle Ladies Auxiliary AERIE # 2875.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Hal D. Gundlach; her son, Scott (Emily) Campbell of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren, Eric (KrystaLey) Campbell, Heather (Axel Gonzalez) Campbell, Brianna (Roger Lau) Campbell, Cathryn (Rashan) Williamson and Richard (Heather) Adams; six great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Donovan, James, Evelynn, Saryn and Atlas; her stepson, Matthew (Denise) Gundlach of Sandusky, OH; two step-grandchildren, Kayli and Tyler Gundlach; two sisters, Sheila (Kevin) Geyer and Brenda Acquaviva; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her best friend and companion, her dog, "Benji."
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and numerous other family members.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026 from 10 am until time of the funeral services at 11 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, OH. Rev. Theodore C. Buehl officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870; to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Erie County Dog Pound, 2900 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
