Juanita Jean (Whaley) Blake

Juanita Jean Blake, 87, the loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Sandusky and formerly Lucas, OH passed away early Monday morning, November 4, 2024 after a short illness at her daughter's home.  She was born November 7, 1936 in Middleport, OH, the daughter of Frank and Augusta Alice (Taylor) Whaley and lived most of her life in Richland County.. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy (Dennis) Mateyka of Sandusky and Diana Kreil of Dublin, Ohio; three grandchildren Chad (Lisa) West, Christopher West and Carla (Carl) Anderson; three step-grandchildren Julie (Tom) Saleski, Greg Mateyka and Jessica Moore, Chrissy (Eric) Kaman; 10 great-grandchildren Logan, Garrett, Kyle, Gavin, Khloe, Ella, Lucas, Deanna, Connor, Blake; her older sister Amy Pullen, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Denard Blake, whom she married in November 1953; her parents, Frank & Augusta Whaley; and many half/step brothers and sisters.

She loved being around her family and cooking for them, gardening, canning, baking and playing cards. Thru the years, she was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lucas, Ohio, member of the Daughter's/Ladies Auxiliary-American Legion in Bellville, Ohio and a Richland County Extension member in Mansfield, OH.

 It was her wish to be cremated.  The family will receive friends and others on Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky., to reminisce and honor the life of Juanita Jean. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to Stein Hospice Service Inc, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, or the charity of one's choice.
