Joseph Giardina, 90, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2021, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
Born on December 7, 1930, in Monroe, MI the son of John and Anna Maria (Spinali) Giardina. He was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School. Joseph was a veteran having served honorably in the U. S. Corp. of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He was a Master Licensed Carpenter for nearly 40 years, before retiring.
Joseph was an avid birder, woodcarver and film expert, he was a walking encyclopedia on knowledge and facts of movie trivia for all movies. His family will remember him for being a dog lover, which he always had, and being a major humorist, he had a great sense of humor. Needless to say, he was also a long suffering Cleveland Brown fan and was crushed when the team moved to Baltimore, MD in the middle of the night.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Ann (Ross) Anderson of W. Bloomfield, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Santo D. Giardina and Joe Giardina in infancy; and a sister, Domenica "Mickey" Giummo.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 3-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Monday morning, November 29, 2021, at 9:40 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Zachary Brown officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky.
