John Soblesky Obituary

  John W. Soblesky, 79, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday afternoon, August 13, 2020, at the Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
   Born on November 17, 1940, in Cleveland, OH the son of Herman and Ruth (Dickey) Soblesky.  John was a graduate of Collingwood High School, in Cleveland, and later graduated from Miami of Ohio where he was a member of the football team as the kicker. 
   In his earlier days, John had worked for a variety of engineering companies before being involved in a severe motorcycle accident, that laid him up for many months and was told that he would never walk again.  In time, he recovered from his injuries and went on to become a very successful businessman, having owned Bonnie Lanes and Carpetowne for many years, before retiring.
   John loved playing cards, golfing, bowling (once Bowler of the Year in the Elks League), gambling and woodworking.
   He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Sandusky Elks Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, the Huron Eagles and a former member of the N.R.A..
   John is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Moll) Soblesky; a daughter, Joyce L. (Bill) Dupont of Norwalk; a stepson, Brandon Dupont; a special son, Justin (Angile) Gioffredo; his stepchildren, Michael J. Leslie, Connie A. Leslie, Brian E. (Patty) Leslie and Rick Baumler; three step grandchildren, Ryan Leslie, Aubrey Baumler and Spencer Klein.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Karen Marino.
   At John's request, all funeral services will be private.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
   The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Back To The Wild, P.O. Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824.
   Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
