It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John J. “Johnny” Fresch on November 3, 2021, at age 65. John was a beloved son, brother and friend to all whose lives he touched.
John was born on March 18,1956 in Sandusky, to George and Gloria (Schmitz) Fresch. After graduating from Sandusky High School, he attended the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering.
John worked various jobs throughout his life. During high school, he worked at Cedar Point, where he ran the Guess Your Weight booth then went on to be a gift shop manager. After college, he worked as an Industrial Engineering consultant in which he traveled around the US. After retiring, he did various jobs and enjoyed helping friends and family.
John had many interests including piloting his plane and sailing. John’s passion, which he learned at a very young age, was sailboat racing. John also navigated the inland waterways, the locks and the Atlantic Ocean on his beloved schooner, the Carol Sue.
John is survived by his father George Fresch (Rosemary Bauer) of Sandusky; sisters Georgia Salinski (Sean Landes) of South Carolina, and Mary Shelley (Shawn) of Fremont; nephews Kirk Salinski (Lauren) of Findlay, Timothy Higgins of Perrysburg, and niece Krista Salinski of South Carolina.
John was proceeded in death by his mother Gloria (Schmitz) Fresch; and his grandparents John and Mabel Schmitz, and Louis and Susan Fresch.
Please join us for a celebration of John’s life, held Saturday morning, November 27, 2021 at David F. Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.. Deacon Jeff Claar officiating. All are invited to a luncheon with the family immediately following the Memorial Service in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church gathering room.
